Astyptodyne First Aid 4 fl oz

ASTYPTODYNE is a distillate, scientifically produced by a patented process from the resinous wood of the long leaf pine. ASTYPTODYNE is an antiseptic and germicide.

ASTYPTODYNE can be used for back pain, knee pain, muscle soreness, burns, sunburn, burn care, cuts and other wound care, skin fungus, athlete's foot, poison oak and ivy, bee stings, fire ant and other bites and is the best mosquito and insect repellent available.

This odd-sounding product was discovered in 1906 due to an accident in a steam plant. A steam pipe burst and severely injured three workmen in a turpentine plant. In finding their way out of the steam-filled building, one of the men fell into a pit of what is now known as ASTYPTODYNE, which was simply considered as a useless by-product of the long-leaf pine tree. This man quickly recovered from his burns with practically no pain and little scaring. His co-workers who were carried to the local hospital suffered for many weeks from pain and scars. Intrigued by what happened, a series of experiments with the oil was conducted and it was found to be a natural healing oil.

The Name

The word ASTYPTODYNE not only seems odd, but is hard to pronounce. The manufacturer is often asked why they selected such a hard name for the product. The name comes from three medical words that are beneficial actions of the healing oil.

  • ANTISEPTIC - kills germs
  • STYPTIC - stops bleeding
  • ANODYNE - stops pain
